I received this butterfly today from Meme in Chile. Her note says it is from the book "Tatted Butterflies" and was done in size 40 muse crochet cotton. Thanks, Meme! It's beautiful!

Well- off it goes. The last of my butterflies. This one is from a pattern by Monica Hahn, in the book Christmas Angels and Other Tatting Patterns. I tatted it in Altin Basak size 40. Maybe this will bring a little spring to Michigan?

I haven't been very good at keeping up with photos and scanning. This is butterfly #4, sent to Aileen in Singapore. It is also Monica Hahn's and was tatted using size 12 Valdani.

Tatting Round Robin- Dec 1

This week's butterfly is on it's way to Melissa in Oregon. The pattern came from The Big Book of Tatting and was made with Altin Basak size 40 thread. I have come to realize I am woefully short of butterfly patterns and need to find some more!

Due to a slight technical difficulty, I received two butterflies in week 1. This lovely butterfly came from Becky. The pink and yellow look fantastic together.

Looking very pretty in peach, here is my butterfly I received from Dyan. The pattern is from Rosemarie Peel's book "Tatting for Pleasure" and is done in size 30 Cebela with Kreinck thread for glitter. Thank you Dyan- it's lovely!

Tatting Round Robin- Nov 17

This is my first project for my first ever tatting round robin. I'm in the butterfly group. The first butterfly I tatted is going to Eliana Gonzalez in Chile and will be mailed tomorrow. The pattern is from the Aug. 1990 issue of Workbasket. I made it with Altin Basak size 40 in a pretty blue and used a cloisonne bead in the middle. Unfortunately, it was nowhere near the approx 3 inch size we are trying to make, so I made her a second one! It was made with DMC Cebelia, size 20 pink and another cloisonne bead from my stash. I hope she likes them!

Easter Eggs- from the Big Book of Tatting by Darlene Polachic. I altered the pattern slightly, as it calls for both chains that make up the shape of the egg to be the same length. I made the chain for the top twice as long so I could get more of an egg-shape when I blocked them.

This tree was made from a copy of a photo. I do not have the pattern that matches the photo, nor do I know where it was published.

Riet was very helpful and shared the following: The christmas tree you can find on different sites, it was on the site of Gale Marshall with a complete explanation for shuttle and needle and I thought it was on Needle tatting 2 it is also some where as a 3D tree.

It's been two months since I posted a motif, but I'm back at it! I have come up with what I consider a fabulous project that will enable me to finish the challenge. I'm not telling what it is- you'll have to wait and see how the finished product comes out!

This is Leens Tatted Angel, a pattern by Eileen Stafford. It is tatted in a size 5 perle cotton.

This one uses the same pattern as #8, but was worked with a smaller thread and has Miyuki Delica beads to add some shimmer to the rays. This is sunset in late summer.

Yep, it's new math. Actually, it's what you get when you take the center of Sun #1 and add the modified rays of Sun #2. Still not quite what I'm after, but I still think the idea has potenital.

Maybe there is hope for me yet. I see a glimmer of hope in this one. This is what the sun looks like at the end of a 112 degree day. Maybe after 22 more I'll have a better grip on this designing thing.

I'm not to the point of quitting my day job to create and publish tatting patterns, but at least I have ideas of how to modify this one. This is what the sun looks like when it is 112 degrees here and you feel like a melted ice cream bar.

I'm not overly impressing myself with my designing skills as of yet. Looks more like a daffodil than a sun. This is what the sun looks like on an 80 degree day in the desert. Oh, well. I have 24 more chances, right?
